The first time i opened the box Doris in it I had the jitters. The helmets construction is very impressive, unlike any Aero I had seen yet.... The most striking thing about Doris is the extent of the inner helmet. Placing it on your head is akin to a motorbike helmet, in as much as there is a lot of padding in there! Your cheeks are slightly squished and the helmet fits snugly all around feeling very secure. Although heavier than say an Icaro the Risch is still a comfortable weight, it is easy to support and doesn’t pull your head around. It is hard not to try a Doris on without dropping into your tuck, and when you do it all becomes clear! Vision in these helmets is perfect, and the feel of the outer shell nestling into your back when you tuck feels fast.... You can tell that these have been made for skateboarding.
My first race with Doris had me excited again, its hard not to feel damn cool with that thing on your head. As I kicked off and got into my tuck I was struck by how quite it is inside Doris. So little wind noise, the quiet insulates you from your speed, it gives you that little bit more confidence. Combined with the visibility and snug and comfortable fit, I felt good in Doris after my first run!
A days skating on a technical course left me stoked on Doris; I found mobility no issue, being able to tackle tight twisty corners without clashing with the helmet, while being able to hide behind the fairing in corners too. Sick helmet. Stephan has dedicated a lot of time and care into the production of these helmets and it really shows. Damn proud to be riding Risch! You better get used to them, there here to stay and will be passing you soon.
Draft 'n pass...
